Nationwide Group of Chefs Deems RealSalt Best of Show Winner and Gold Medal Winner in Double-Blind Taste Test.
SAN FRANCISCO, CA, September 20, 2001–In a national judging of all major salt brands, RealSalt was deemed the Best of Show and Gold Medal winner by professional chefs of the American Tasting Institute. RealSalt Garlic, RealSalt Onion, and RealSalt Season were also deemed Gold Medal winners.
The double-blind judging was conducted by a panel of professional chefs in San Francisco. The products were judged on appearance, freshness, and most importantly, taste. “Taste is our principal criterion,” commented Chef Jesse Sartain, co-founder of the American Tasting Institute. “There are so many ill-tasting products in the general market that our chefs are compelled to guide consumers and foodservice buyers to a better experience. Good taste can be so easily achieved.”
The American Tasting Institute was founded by Sartain and his colleagues in 1993 to promote taste, safety, and nutritional standards. The group, made up of 35,000 chefs nationwide, has been taste-testing food and beverage products in an effort to guide consumers to the best tasting products.
RealSalt, an all-natural gourmet mineral sea salt, is mined from an ancient mineral deposit in Redmond, Utah. Its unique “sweet” flavor and “pinkish” appearance comes from more than 30 natural occurring trace minerals found in the deposit. RealSalt is Kosher certified.
